Social Media Trends Interview
I was thrilled to be invited to interviewed about Social Media Trends in 2016 on Business Connections Live last month. I love the professional studio set up and Steve Hyland always makes the interviews fun. It wasn’t the first time that I was a guest. I was lucky to be on their first ever broadcast more than two years ago. And they keep on asking me back.
Behind the scenes
Maybe it is a girl thing but, what to wear always takes far more time that it should. I didn’t want to wear something that I had worn before. The use of a green screen means that you shouldn’t wear green and I realised how many of my outfits had green in them. The dress that I wanted to wear had bits of green in it but I took a chance. I bought a spare outfit with me just in case it didn’t work. The last thing you want is parts of you to be transparent! We tested my dress in the studio before we went live and it worked!
The studio lights make it hot and by choosing not to wear a jacket meant that I had to feed the microphone up my dress! What you can’t see is that I had a folded business card wedged behind the mic (beneath my dress) to keep it stable. Not so glamourous!
Business Connections Live goes out live each Monday at noon. It then goes to regional television channels so the sections of the interview are timed to fit in with advertising breaks. If you watch very carefully, you’ll see Steve Hyland do the end of each section before introducing footage which will only be used during the live show. Then you’ll see the welcome back. I really don’t know how he does it, but he has been presenting for a very long time. It is live and we don’t have commercial breaks so the only breaks are when it goes to video footage. Linda Bazant normally comes in to adjust Steve’s jacket or tie and gives feedback before dashing out again.
This time, the topic was Social Media trends in 2016. You can watch the interview here:
In this interview
We discussed what has been happening in Social Media recently and where it was going, as well as emerging platforms to watch. We looked at recent changes on the major social media platforms that have taken place in the last year across:
- And the growth of Snapchat,
I feel that these are some of the trends to watch in 2016:
- Think Mobile First
- Make Video a Priority
- Move towards the Pay-to-Play model
- Publishing on Social Media
Thank you, Linda Bazant, Steve Hyland and the rest of the Business Connections Live production team for making the interview such a pleasant experience.
